Kent Police have uncovered £7m of drugs hidden in secret compartments in two vans and at a garage in Erith.

On Tuesday 30 April two vans were stopped as part of an investigation by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime directorate.

Around 180 kilos of drugs, believed to include cannabis, ecstasy tablets, amphetamines and cocaine, were found concealed in both vehicles after they had left a lock-up at the Daranth Industrial Estate in Erith.

The vehicles were stopped on and near to the M6 motorway with the assistance of Cheshire and Staffordshire police officers

Further drugs, including more than 300 cannabis plants were uncovered at the Erith lock up in Landau Way.

Following investigations into the seizure and also the capture of drugs, firearms and an explosive device from a garage in Dartford on 24 November 2012 three men have been arrested and charged.

Scott Baker, 23, of Betsham Road, Erith is charged with being concerned with the supply of drugs, with possession of firearms, possession of a stun gun and the possession of an explosive substance for unlawful purpose - namely a smoke grenade.

Billy Mills, 33, of Oakdene Avenue, Chislehurst is charged with three counts of conspiracy to supply controlled drugs.

Graham Roberts, 50 of Kestrel Court, Crown Quay Lane, Sittingbourne is also charged with three counts of conspiracy to supply controlled drugs.

It is the latest major drugs discovery by Kent Police, following the seizure of two tons of cannabis resin from a lorry container in Ashford on 8 March. This was estimated to have a street value of around £8.5 million.

Detective Chief Inspector Eddie Fox of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said: "This is a major coup in the fight against this crime group and drugs as a whole. It demonstrates our commitment to tackle organised criminality which has a significant impact in Kent."
